Love Island 2019: The year that Love Island became sustainable

Each year, Love Island gets more and more addictive. All of your friends are glued to it, your boyfriend starts to watch it religiously and even your parents have become obsessed!

All of the twists and turns of the show keep us all tuning in with the hope to watch a blossoming love affair, to get our dose of drama and not to mention the iconic 'Casa Amor' Shake ups. However this season of Love Island, something rather out of the ordinary struck many of us who watch.

Reality shows such as Love Island are particularly known for endorsing high street brands and are often sponsored by the likes of Misguided (2018 sponsor) and I saw It First (2019 sponsor). We're not saying that we aren't a fan of the outfits, however what we do not agree with is how these fast fashion pieces are produced. Despite the show being sponsored, the swimsuits that the girls decide wear on the show is ultimately their choice based simply on which swimsuits they love.

For this reason, we were absolutely stunned to see Pursuit make it's first debut on the opening night with Surfer babe Lucie Rose Donlan killing it in The Rash Suit, made from regenerated ocean waste. She stole all of our hearts and practically the entire show in that killer suit! Being a surfer girl involved with many charity's it's fantastic to see that Lucie shares our same love of the ocean by wearing this symbolic piece.

We see this as a significant moment for sustainable fashion as Pursuit has become the first ever sustainable swimwear brand to have been featured on a show so known by the youth culture.

One of our goals has always been "to inspire millennial to buy less and to shop sustainably", and we feel that Lucie Rose Donlan wearing our swimsuit on this year's Love Island is a small step towards that goal.

Not only was our signature Rash Suit seen numerous times on three girls, Lucie, Molly Mae and Maura, our Viper Suits were also in the promo shots and featured on separate occasions throughout!

We are beyond proud to say that the face of sustainable fashion is beginning to change and we hope to continue to be a big part of that change.
